Snow White becomes the perfect Christmas Story! Santa himself arrives onstage to tell everyone about a terrible problem: The Wicked Queen hates Christmas and is plotting against Snow White because she brings the lovely winter snow. Tricked into taking a bite of the poisoned apple, the lovely Snow White sleeps until Prince Charming awakens her with "love's first kiss". At last the snow falls and Christmas comes to the forest making for a very happy ending!
This original play for children is written by Kathryn Schultz Miller. New lyrics are set to familiar Holiday songs such as "O Christmas Tree", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Here We Come A Wassailing". Parts include Snow White, Santa, Snowflakes, Queens, the Prince, Forest Animals, the Queen's Spirits, and even Christmas Elves!
In this twelve-week workshop, young performers (ages 5-12) will become immersed in stagecraft - from casting to the opening rehearsal process to the final production. The goal of the workshop is to provide an opportunity for children in our community to attain theater training and performance experience. The program will build character, teach self-discipline and respect for others, and instill good work ethic. Children will gain confidence, poise, and a real sense of accomplishment while learning the foundations of theater.
The workshop and performance will be taught by Lisa Johnson and Ann Lemley, two veteran actresses with The Theatre Company. They were most recently seen in Willy Wonka as Mrs. Beauregard (Lisa) and Mrs. Gloop (Ann).
The workshop fee is $100 per child and includes professional instruction, facility fees, and rights for the OAC to present the production. Families with more than one child enrolled will receive a 10% discount. A limited number of scholarships are available and will be awarded based on financial need. The scholarship application must be completed and turned in along with proof of need to be considered.
