“We’re off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz!” That’s right, it is almost time to audition for this year’s OAC summer musical production of The Wizard of Oz!
Auditions will be held in the Lyric Theater, Saturday, April 14th from 10:00am until 3:30p.m. Ages 5 to 12 will be auditioning first from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and after a short break, all adults will audition from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Girls 12 years old and up are allowed to audition for Dorothy. (If you are 12 years of age and would like to audition for Dorothy, you will be required to audition at the 10 a.m. auditions as well as the 12:30 p.m. auditions.)
The first set of auditions will require a 30 second to 1 minute song selection of your choice. The auditions might also include some cold reads and will include learning some simple choreography.
The call backs will be the very next day, Sunday, April 15th starting at 2:00p.m. in the annex of the Lyric and will move on to the stage at 3:30. If you are called back for the following parts you will be required to perform a one to two minute monologue of your choice: Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, Lion, Glinda, Wicked Witch, and the Wizard of Oz. Audition monologues can be found for free on many websites or you can always find one from your favorite play or movie. Don’t panic! Monologues will only help you show off your talents and help you land the part you really want. This will be a huge cast with parts for almost everyone…so please…come AUDITION!!!
